After a miss
Confidence is built from doing
Belief that you can do something grows most from having done it.
Psychologists call it self-efficacy: your belief that you can carry out a particular thing. Of the ways it grows, the strongest is mastery experience — actually succeeding at it yourself.
Pep talks and watching others help a bit. A record of promises you kept helps more. That's why a small promise kept beats a big one broken.
